Monday January 20, 2014 8:30 Pm: As any of you know who have been here before, I am a big Oakland or Los Angeles RAIDER fan. Please don't hold it against me. I was a big San Francisco 49er fan first, but in 1967 I saw defensive backs looking like they knew how to knock down a ball and, we knew we had the right to catch the ball ......... So I became a Raider fan and still liked the 49ers but when Kate became a Raider fan at the age of 9, she became less of a fan of the 49ers AND then, Susie 2.5 years younger told Kate she liked the 49ers more and they were a better team........Kate stopped liking the 49ers......... so I supported her in her feelings, and thus liked the 49ers less over the last few years. Yes I am loyal to the Raiders. Not like on the East Coast where you have more teams in the same space..........we have two only Yes I am a Seattle fan because of Susie. She is up in Seattle now and has become a fan of Seattle, not the 49ers after 15 years............ so I am supporting Seattle over Denver. I am interested to hear from Kate, the Raider, who does she want to win............... Lagrein................................ Several years before we had a nice lady who came by at times and purchased several cases of wine to distribute. She came back one time with a bottle of Lagrein and she asked me if I had ever heard of it.............NO I said,,,, wow nice complexity........... So I orderd some vines and planted them on the Aca Modot, Pomo Indian site on our property. These first Lagrein wines were the darkest wine I have ever seen. So we will always produce a Lagrein. A few days ago I opened 2009 Lagrein aged 10 months, for a customer so it gave me the idea to open more Lagrein. I opened the 16 month version of 2009 and found it to be similar and hard to tell the difference. Close enough so I enjoyed both. The 2010 Lagrein is totally different, still austere and will go on for 20 years. The 2012 will be the best but needs more time. The 2011 is real nice at times, more fruit driven but not typically of what we produce here..............BUT with dinner tonight it was the most enjoyable. The others are dark and intense............. 10:00 Pm: I now have computer problems and Pat is off to Seattle, big changes tomorrow............ Tennis is a passion for me so I will be upstairs for awhile. Wednesday January 22, 2014 The IRS lady is here again tomorrow and we are prepared. I love spending money............. So I bought a new computer.......it has been 4 years with several minor problems but after firing up the new one with Windows 7, I was very impressed. I have spent 10 hours with this new computer so I need a break. ""I think it is time to sell and I hope most of the negative short sellers continue to attack the stock, maybe justified. Then I could buy more.................""" That is what I sent to Susie, the first one to buy TSLA. It is up again but is it justified!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? To be justified, Tesla or the stock TSLA has to have a plan to disrupt everything we have loved about a gas vehicle. 1) Tesla would have to produce the best car ever .....................done...........easy, I have had two Corvettes and two Porsches, and recently 3 BMW 5's and the Model S is better 2) Tesla has to provide us with a good range, by just electricity. No Oil................Done 3) Tesla has to give us a place to Charge...................in less than it takes to get a sandwich..................done 4) Tesla owners love their car. I signed up a few weeks ago to provide free charging here at our winery and we have had already 3 Tesla owners here to charge and talk about how much we love our vehicles........................ He was not doing well as an inside male cat in San Francisco. I have seen inside cats look out the window, and I feel for them, maybe, thinking I could be out there.........He would not pee and he was not doing better after large costs.......it is hard losing a family member that we see every day. Then a little after 8:30, Catarino and Martha came in and said there 16 year old son is in trouble. At 8:52, my accountant came in and said he had it figured out........ Yes just after 9am the nice IRS lady came in. She grew up in the wine industry, around here, so she knows more than all other IRS agents. She finally found one inventory item that needed to be adjusted. Earlier my accountant said that is what he hoping would happen. He was real good and she was right also so we are good for now............ It will cost me as you can imagine, but she could have gone back more years and maybe found something else. I told her I know the IRS is a voluntary system and she agreed so I am happy to pay my fair share......since I have done well............. It has been agreed to add more than $200,000 to my 2013 corporation form and pay in the top bracket. I could sell some stocks......no Like I said yesterday, I bought a new computer.........a lot of time is involved but I am getting closer. Pat gets back on Tuesday so I have to straighten up the office. I have both the old and new computers side by side, the new one near Pat's screen........on her side.........so I will be in trouble if I don't have the new one up in running SO I have a few more days. I also got a new surveillance camera that can be seen in the office, I like it. We are still waiting on labels. It has taken another week. It does not look like we will bottling until at least 3 more weeks................................ Tomorrow is another day............It is always fun!!! I will never retire........... Saturday January 25, 2014 My lawyer advised me to change a statement in my diary about the IRS. As I have said before, my life is an open book. I am not hiding anything. We are still waiting on the labels for our soon, hopefully bottling of our 2012 16 months. Maybe we might have labels by February 14. We will be setup for bottling in the winery by the end of next week..........Also I have heard we have to have a pick up party on February 22 So it could be an interesting week.......... Some of the so acknowledges experts have predicted a sell off for 4 years. As some of you know. the Market has gone up......BUT how do we know when it will crash again. That is the time to buy........ Ok I have to think about the IRS payment......it is just after the barrel tasting SO I should be fine And then we do well at the beginning of March when we offer our 2014 Futures. I love the stock market. I have done well all my life, starting in 1962 BUT. I have been in 40% cash for a year. That money is not making anything......I have to pay the IRS some....... but I am like many, we want the Market to go down so we can buy more. BUT should I sell everything and say, I made some money???? 9:00 Pm: I am now 70 years old and soon to be 71. I love what I am doing so I know the next many years will keep me motivated..................we have new vines that will produce 40% more grapes in the next few years So we have to sell more wine...............I hate marketing.................. |
