After a week, we have started up harvesting again. It is 103 degrees right now and was 105 yesterday. Today we harvested most of our Cabernet and we will finish tomorrow. Tomorrow we will also harvest some Mourvedre and Syrah for Pendleton Winery. On Wednesday we will harvest some Carignan for us and a Napa winery. Thursday it will be more Carignan and Petite Sirah. Friday will probably be Petit Verdot. I am very busy also with trying to provide for my Mother who just got home from the hospital yesterday.

Harvest.......we have many problems we will address. As most years in Dry Creek Valley, we have a few slow fermentations in Zinfandel. We will start a fermentation on our Petite Sirah and add back the slow lots of Zinfandel. Some of these lots will be used in our My Zin and some in our RaiZin.

It was very windy last night so things are changing leading up to a very warm weekend.

Yesterday was a trying day. I spent about 3 hours organizing for my Mother to have 24 hour care. Lynda and Richard have been great, my Sister and Brother and law. They took my Mother to the surgeon in San Francisco........

OK, of course we were harvesting in the last two days and that is always an adventure

We have brought in Carignan and Petite Sirah at 26+ sugar and we may be through by the end of next week. Today we will finish our Petite Sirah and tomorrow our Carignan and start on our Petit Verdot or Aglianico which will be tested today. In the next several days we will harvest our small amounts of Alvarelhao and Souzao which go into our Escuro blend. Then Malbec and Cabernet Franc will be harvested to be used in our Aca Modot blend. After that will be Mourvedre and Syrah followed by 2nd crop which is used in Dave's Cuvee. Montepulciano will be the last harvested. Our anniversary is on September 29 so we will go out for dinner that night..........
