It has been 111 degrees here for two days and there is flooding in Texas, I know the devil will never admit...............Global Warming.............

Like I have said Harvest is..............the ultimate for me...........it is so complex from day to day. I love what I do.

Wow it has been another day of harvesting our 120 year old Zinfandel coming at 27%...........way too high so we have to add a lot of water to keep it at 15% alcohol at the end...........hard to explain..........This is always the most interesting time in Harvest........Zinfandel is way too complicated, Cab is easy, Petite Sirah is always an adventure since we are thinking about a harvest of rotten grapes, the best......................

OK, OK, OK ,OK.........Susie and I will get into trouble............since Susie and I are heading down to San Francisco on Friday to pick up my finally new 100D.............So when I get up to the top where we get in on Canyon Road. We will get up to the top before entering the freeway, there is a lane off to the right so we will wait a little and start when no one is around and have a surge, ludicrous. Should I act like 21 again, like in my first corvette...........................

No I won't be doing Ludicrous, I am too scared!! They say to put your left foot on the brake and right foot all the way down on the pedal, hit launch mode, take your foot off the pedal and then push the pedal all the way down again and then take your foot off the brake to launch from 0 to 60 in 2.18 seconds. I am too old for the surge!! Bryan was here Sunday and he took me out to try Ludicrous but he did not put his foot on the brake first, just pushed down the pedal real fast. It was still way to scary. I am sure it still was 0 to 60 in 2.2 seconds............

We have continued to pick all the Old Vine Zinfandel and we started on the section for our Block 4 Field Blend. The Zin has continued to be about 27% sugar and the Block for is about 25. We are picking young Zinfandel tomorrow and finishing Block 4 Saturday. Friday I will be picking up my new Tesla 100D. We will most likely take off Monday and do more sugar tests. The latest sugar tests show we may start picking again on Tuesday. Fun, Fun, Fun

What else can go wrong with Tesla?? I just received a call that my 100D I was supposed to pick up tomorrow has an ISSUE. I was not told what was wrong but I may hear soon. I told them Saturday would be better anyway because we are harvesting the rest of Block 4 tomorrow.

Today we took in grapes from the newer Zinfandel in our 5th block which usually goes into My Zin. The fruit looked great and came in at 25 sugar.

I have mentioned before I have a weather box with a thermometer in it which is very accurate. The temperature you see reported on our website is a Davis system that shows lower highs and higher lows, not as accurate. The all time high here was 117 years ago and today the official thermometer in the box reached 116 so far at 4:00Pm. Yesterday the high was hit at 4:30 so we may reach 117.

Tesla found the problem in my Model S that I was to pick up today. It just needed a fuse or such so the parts will be there by Wednesday, the next scheduled day to pick up in San Francisco. We are doing sugar tests Monday and may harvest Tuesday, so I hope to be able to take the day off on Wednesday.

BTW, we finished all the Block 4 section today before this heat. We only have one small section of young Zinfandel left. Zinfandel grapes have thin skins so the bunches can be damaged from a heat wave over 105. 116 is way too hot. Most of our other varieties have thicker skins so we can only hope they can stand the heat.

So why do people like caffeine? I hope most people know:............pure coffee brewed has no carbohydrates, no calories. Caffeine makes you more alert, but hyper for me. I am always hyper without Caffeine, thinking about the next big thing so I like to be alert.

I drink espresso in the evening and I know most everyone who comes in here for dinner, does not want an espresso in the evening, I know it has less caffeine if pushed through fast. I must say I could try caffeine in the morning but I am already wired for the next day.

So sure I was worried about my 95 year old mother, Vivien yesterday down in Millbrae which set a new record of 100 degrees. My 95 year old Mother has no air conditioning. I tried her phone many times to see how she was doing. I could not get through on her phone, finality I contacted a neighbor, and she confirmed Vivien is still around. Tomorrow is another day, but remember global Warming does not exist???????????????????

Right now at 1:30 Pm it is 115 degrees already, ahead of yesterday. We may top yesterday's high of 116 since that happened at 4:30 yesterday.
