Yesterday Steve the granite fabricator came out to make some measurements. Today Pat and I will visit him in Santa Rosa. This will be the fourth trip in two weeks. Since Santa Rosa is 30 miles away, it does take up most of our day. Today we will be back at 2:30 since Everett, one of my treasured tasters and customers, is coming from Sacramento (two hrs plus) to give me his first impression of my 2001 blends. Maybe I can convince him to post some notes.
Since the island in our kitchen measures over 6ft by 9 ft, Pat and I must choose the best of the three granite slabs that were transported from Oakland to Steve's shop in Santa Rosa. These slabs all measure about 75 inches by 114. The problem we have is there are imperfections showing on each piece. We need at least 111 inches on the long end. The island before, when the tile was on it, was 78 inches on the short end which created a nice overhang for a counter to sit and eat off of. I am hoping to select a slab that is at least 74 inches, but I could live with 72.
I have prepared the label approval forms for the ATF and will mail them today. The files for our labels have been sent to the label company and should be ready to use some time in April.
Tomorrow we will be open for futures pick-up as usual, but this is a
weekend when we will have a great cheese spread out. Any of you who have
wine to pick-up or just want to taste our 2001 wines from the barrel are
